Factors leading to surgical evacuation in first trimester medical termination of pregnancy

Background: Aim of the study was to determine factors leading surgical evacuation in first trimester medical termination pregnancy women attending SAT hospital, college, Thiruvananthapuram.Methods: A case control conducted at department obstetrics and gynaecology, Government Medical Thiruvananthapuram. The sample size calculated be 58 each group. Antenatal family planning OPD for hospital over a period one year were recruited this study. structured questionnaire used record history, examination findings, investigations including ultrasound. clinical outcome defined as successful abortion failed which leads due retained products.Results: Previous caesarean, previous induced abortion, loss or increasing gestational age showed rate abortion. Also, patients with anaemia haemoglobin <11 gm/dl diabetes hypertension independent association abortion.Conclusions: If patient can do earlier advancing gestation will also after correcting anaemia, proper medication.
